Dear reader,

Five parts of this series have documented what is broken in Bibb County Schools, from classrooms where teachers work without a break to a central office that answers to no one. Part 6 is called The Repair, and I am not writing it alone. I am asking for your help.

Teachers and retired teachers, parents, professors, school staff, and students: you know things no report will ever capture. Tell me what is broken, at your school, in your district, or at the state and national level, and tell me exactly how you would fix it. The finished Part 6 will be built from what arrives through the form on this page.

Thank you for your response. ✨

Two quick rules. First, be specific. “Treat teachers like professionals” is a slogan, not a plan. Say what changes on Monday morning: no district template lesson plans due every Sunday night, a planning period that meetings cannot take, departments choosing their own books from an approved list. If a first-year teacher could not act on your advice the week it prints, sharpen it. Second, this form is for advice. To report wrongdoing instead, use the Tipline. If the form gives you trouble, write to contact@gwmac.com.

Named or Anonymous: Your Call

Your name is published only if you say so on the form, and never without your permission. Anonymous advice is credited by role alone, “a Bibb County middle school teacher,” nothing more. Caution about your own job is not cowardice. It is arithmetic.

What Happens Next

The form closes Friday night, November 6. The finished Part 6, built from your advice and my own repair list, runs at this same address the following week. Until then, Part 5 stays pinned at the top of the homepage.

So, one question, and it is the whole article: what is broken, and exactly how would you fix it? The form is above. Have at it.
